RISK FACTORS FOR FOOT-RELATED LAMENESS IN HORSESmembers
There is little scientific evidence to support the premise that poor foot conformation predisposes to foot pain and lameness. Thus, in this study the relationships between external characteristics of the hoof capsule and angles of the distal phalanx; variability in shape of the distal phalanx; and the association between distal phalanx angles and the injury causing lameness were investigated.

Unusual bone tumor in a middle-aged rottweilermembers
If neoplasias of skletal bones are diagnosed especially in large dogs, they are osteosarcomas in the majority of the cases, and the prognosis is poor. And so signalement and history of the 6-year-old, 43-kg, spayed female rottweiler with a 1-month history of progressive, left hind-limb lameness, a cranial drawer sign and joint distention were present in the left stifle was already suspicious for this problem. Which other differentials should be considered?

Congestive heart failure in horsesmembers
Congestive heart failure is well known in small animals but it also occurs in horses. In this study, the clinical signs, underlying cardiac conditions, echocardiographic findings, and prognosis for horses with congestive heart failure are illustrated on 14 horses which were presented because of a heart murmur.

Monepantel faecal residues in dung faunamembers
Monepantel is a new oral anthelmintic drug for use in sheep at a dose of 2.5 mg active ingredient/kg body weight. Hazard (toxicity) is related to the expected exposure. In this study, the safety of monepantel and its major metabolite for dung fauna was evaluated basing on the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) draft guideline for testing of chemicals.

Polylacticacid–acetic acid matrix in burnsmembers
Bacterial colonization and infection are still the major causes of delayed healing and graft rejection following burns and they are furthermore the basis for second and third hit sepsis. Topical treatment is necessary to reduce the incidence of burn wound infection. Silver sulphadiazine (SD-Ag) is a frequently used microbicidal agent. However, this treatment causes adverse reactions and side-effects. Additionally, in recent years multiresistant bacteria, which have not been treated sufficiently, are on the rise. Is this new matrix a reasonable therapeutic option?

Intermittent gastro-oesophageal intussusception in a catmembers
Chronic progressive vomitus in a young cat was the owner´s complaint in this very interesting case. Finally, the diagnosis of intermittent gastro-oesophageal intussusception was made. What is the primary cause?

Lawsonia intracellularis antibodies in Australian pig herdsmembers
Proliferative enteropathy (PE) of pigs is caused by Lawsonia intracellularis. Clinical severity appears to depend, at least partly, on the infective dose and strain of L. intracellularis. Serological tests are able to detect subclinical disease. The Bioscreen ELISA for detecting L. intracellularis-specific antibodies is widely used to monitor the circulating antibody status of pigs. How prevalent are these antibodies in pug herds in Australia?

Extrasceletal osteosarcoma in a dog (case report)members
A 10-year-old spayed female Boxer-mix was presented with a history of several weeks of soft stools, straining to defecate, inappetance, and lethargy and several days of hematochezia, melena, and dyschezia. These clinical signs are compatibel with an intestinal neoplasia, especially at this age and in this breed. But an osteosarcoma is surely a surprising diagnosis!
